There are only an i finite amount of we paid nobs. And we know many of those are given on the basis of who and not what you know.
Ultimately though there are jobs that need doing that people that are highly qualified would not do. So if we need less qualified people to fill these roles paying them a proper wage thsy can live on is thecleast they can expect. The tax payer should not have to bridge that gap..

Re: IDS
A bit of a red herring this, wealthy people aren't born bright and less wealthy born dim, it's more about leveling opportunities, not completely, that's impossible but as much as can be reasonably expected.

"I've worked with people that are hard working, dependable, reliable and trustworthy, but couldn't add up very well, or were poor readers/writers.Those people were destined to remain as labourers/mates etc."

Then what is your solution? Just fork over more of other people's money to compensate the sub-literate for not being bright enough to be doctors?

If they don't have the knowledge and skills needed to get a better paid job, then a low paid job is all they deserve. We don't owe them a better living.

Yes, fork out other people's money to compensate the sub-literate for not being bright enough to be doctors.

And with regards to your last paragraph - when you read those words back - is that really what you think?

Serf is right, productivity is much more to do with quality of management than the efforts, or not, of the workers.

Darlo Debs 12:59 Wed Sep 2
Re: IDS
Overbyer that is true, but what is also true is the amounts of people that are very.able but cannot afford to give up work in order to srudy. These may be people who find themselves in very difficult situations in later life.

And here's me thinking productivity was more to do with investment/mechanisation than laziness (or otherwise).

Willtell,

The French are lazy fuckers?

I think you'll find that, their rate of productivity is a lot higher than, Great Britain.

When we pull out of the EU, we better pull our collective fingers out.

Nurse, I'm not standing up for lazy bastards, but i do stand up for those in society that just don't have the ability and/or circumstances to achieve.

I've worked with people that are hard working, dependable, reliable and trustworthy, but couldn't add up very well, or were poor readers/writers.

Those people were destined to remain as labourers/mates etc. Its not always about trying harder, its sometimes about reaching your station in life.

Did you see the stat out last week that 53% of graduates are in jobs that don't require a degree?

If employers are taking on graduates as admin assistants then what chance does someone with genuinely limited ability have?

Overture- probably ought to have tried harder at school, and/or been more proactive in getting themselves onto better apprenticeship or practical college courses. I have no idea what is your motivation for standing up for lazy bastards.

Yes, zero-hours order pickers should take "High Speed Order Picking - The Amazon Way" to read in their 10 min breaks in their 12 hour shifts. That way they can shine and progress to zero-hours supervisors with one free Sunday a month. Their lives will be complete.

"There is no one lazier than an Italian."

I think you'll find the French are the laziest f*ckers in Europe. It is against the law to work more than a 35 hour week although you are allowed up to an extra 4 hours overtime...

No one works less than the French and they retire at 62. Also strike a lot too but no-one gets one over a French 'worker'. Two hours lunches and more official holidays than anyone else too.

Just don't ask how their economy is doing...

Its ok Debs, Infidel has the solution - these people just need to read more - go along to their local libraries (that no longer exist).
